After a gap of two years due to the Corona epidemic, this year Beach festival is going to be organized at Gopalpur from 24th to 28th of December by district administration. In this occasion Palli Shri Mela will be one of the major cultural events as described by collector in press conference at Sub-collector conference hall, Brahmapur This festival will become a medium for the development and promotion of tourism in Ganjam district.
In a press conference the DM and Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida gave information about the festival and described that such a mega program has been taken up by the district administration for the first time. It is expected to be crowded this year due to two years of closure due to Corona restrictions. Therefore, the administration focused on the safety of the audience. 5 parking area have been identified for parking facility.
The District Collector said that the food stalls to be opened at the festival site will be inspected twice a day and a committee has been formed for this purpose. Pallashri Mela will be held as a special attraction of the festival. Various items produced by women (SHGs) groups will be sold here. 120 stalls will be set up specially for this purpose, Collector Shri Parida said. The festival will showcase dance, music, songs, sand art and water sports.
Tribal Kandha Dance of Sundargarh District, Kathakali Dance of Kerala, Ganda Dance of Nabarangpur District, Dhemsa dance of Koraput district, Sattriya Nritya of Assam, the Purulia Chhau of West Bengal, Sambalpuri folk Dance of Sambalpur District, Paika akhoda of ganapati district, Kuchipudi dance of Andra Pradesh will entertain the audience. Similarly, Dhumpa dance, Bharatlila, Prahallad drama, Chadheya, Gula nacha, Ramlila, Daskudiya etc. folk art of Ganjam district will be performed.
MPs, Ministers and MLAs including the Chief Minister will be invited to the festival. Chief Development Officer- cum- EO V. Keerthi Vasan, Berhampur Sub Collector Ashutosh Kulkarni, Berhampur SP Dr.Saravana Vivek M, BeMC Commissioner J.Sonal along with District Culture Officer Jiten Parida, District Information and Public Relations Officer Rabi Narayan Behera, SDIPRO Rashmirani Nimaka were present in this occasion.
