The winners from SAIL, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) in the SAIL Swarna Jayanti Story Writing Competition 2022 were felicitated by Mr. P K Satapathy, ED (P&A) at a function organised in his Office. Mr Satapathy handed over the gifts and the Certificates to Ms. Anindita Mohapatra, DGM (MM-Purchase) and Munmun Mittra, GM (CSR) the joint winners of the 2nd Prize and Mr. Sampad Mishra, AGM (Refractories) for winning the consolation prize in the competition. Present on the occasion were Ms. Archana Satpathy, DGM (PR) & COC, and other officers and employees of Public Relations Department and Personnel Department. Mr. Sashank Pattanaik, Assistant Manager (PR) coordinated the event.
It is worth mentioning here that the competition was organized in both Hindi and English language on the theme: ‘पिछले पाँच दशकों में सेल का राष्ट्र निर्माण में योगदान’ / ‘SAIL’s contribution in Nation building in the last five decades’. The competition was organized to provide an opportunity to the participants to showcase their creativity and writing skills, in which a large number of participants from across the country participated and showcased the role of SAIL in building the nation and society in the last five decades through their stories.
Ms. Mahapatra in her story projected the socio cultural transformation brought about by the cosmopolitan nature of the Steel Plant setup fostering unity in diversity. The story written by Ms. Mittra showcased SAIL’s compassionate angle and how it helps the widow of an employee to become financially independent and bring up a girl child who takes up a job similar to that of her father in the Steel Plant. Mr. Sampad Mishra highlighted the strength of SAIL DMR grade steel used in submarines which has the ability to sustain the fierce attacks by enemies.
